چکیده
In the wake of 21st century, climate change has emerged as biggest lifethreatening challenge with a potential evolving into largest, if not most complex, economic opportunity since industrial revolution. While narrowing down its focus to carbon tax regulatory fiscal aspect international law, this article explores role in moulding line commitments assumed by countries under 2015 Paris Agreement. The issue is whether imposition or restructuring rates can have significant impact regulating emissions rationally pushing consumers, investors, and producers, towards an environmentally sound direction. To answer this, investigates three carbon-tax implementation case studies; British Columbia, South Africa, revision European Union Energy Taxation Directive context aviation, aim explore scope contributing factors – from adequate rate determination optimum revenue use successfully curbing carbon-based emissions. Drawing upon policy-efforts studies, challenges solutions, proposes suggestive policy model COVID-19 pandemic, way forward ensuring global carbon-neutrality.

Climate Stabilization at 2°C and Net Zero Carbon Emissions
The goal to stabilize global average surface temperature at lower than 2°C above pre-industrial level has been extensively discussed in climate negotiations. A number of publications state that achieving this goal will require net anthropogenic carbon emissions (defined as anthropogenic emissions minus anthropogenic sinks such as carbon capture and sequestration and reforestation) to be reduced...
متن کاملIncreasing Emissions Certainty under a Carbon Tax
arious organizations and individuals, including issue-oriented advocacy groups, research institutes, business groups, and members of Congress, have recently proposed that the United States consider use of a carbon tax as the primary federal policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.1 A carbon tax establishes a fixed fee per unit of emissions and thereby provides a certain price incentive to cut...

This article discusses the link between water conservation, reclamation, reuse and energy use as related to the goal of achieving the net zero carbon emission footprint in future sustainable cities. It defines sustainable ecocities and outlines quantitatively steps towards the reduction of energy use due to water and used water flows, management and limits in linear and closed loop water/stormw...
متن کاملCarbon Tax and International Emissions Trading: A Swiss Perspective
This paper assesses the economic impacts of the Swiss climate policy formulated under the Kyoto Protocol; the impacts on the carbon price, the welfare cost, and trade effects are examined. Our analysis is based on a multi-sectoral and multi-regional, computable general equilibrium (CGE) model of the world economy (GEMINI-E3) which includes a representation of the Swiss economy. The model is use...
